After remodeling was completed in 1995, we began using the cabin again, but on a much more sporadic basis. As time passed, our grandchildren grew, learned to swim and ski, and a new generation began making memories at the cabin.
This continued until 2008 when the Mississippi struck again. As in 1993, water again rose until it filled the cabin with about 3 feet of water…
This time, after water remained in the cabin for another 3 months, the cabin was condemned and we had only two options: demolish the cabin and use the property as river access only, or raise the cabin above the 100 year flood plain prior to rebuilding. We chose the latter.
